Description

Sold as set of two chairs. The Ocean Collection of outdoor furniture by Mater brings timeless style and durability to any outside space. The low Ocean Lounge Chair and matching table add a relaxed touch to your gatherings. The slats are made from discarded fishing nets mixed with recycled hard plastic, true to Mater's reputation for sustainable materials innovation. Old fishing nets are collected, washed, shredded and made into pellets, also known as green plastic. Instead of polluting the seas and harming marine life, ocean trash is transformed into long-lasting new furniture.

The collection is based on a molded wood design created by Danish modernist designers Jørgen and Nanna Ditzel in 1955, substituting a new conscious material for our times.

The Ocean Collection is designed for easy disassembly so that each component can be separated and upcycled into future production cycles. Steel tube frame is 20% recycled steel, with a gunmetal finish.

After years of research on more sustainable ways to create furniture, lighting, and objects, Mater now works with a range of production partners who share their ambition for change to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Together, they are committed to discovering new and better ways of making beautiful design - in a responsible way.
